My apologies to those waiting for my next post. Things have gotten a little hectic around here! I guess that’s bound to happen w/ 4 pets and a 4-year-old.
We finally selected a preschool/daycare for Jayden. He’s pretty excited about going back to school and meeting some friends down here. We’re also getting ready to enroll him in kindergarten for this fall. We’ve been working with him to make sure that he’s ready when kindergarten starts. His family has a history of learning disabilities and we want to try to get ahead of the ball. He’s a bright kid, but he does read things backwards sometimes. I’m not sure if that’s the dyslexia or if that’s just how a 4-year-old reads. lol
My bosses at work were kind enough to work with me to allow me to switch to a 4×10 shift. Meaning I work 630a – 5p w/ a 30 minute lunch break. Today is my 2nd day on. Man, am I tired! It’s going to take some getting used to. But it will be great to have the extra day off and save on daycare expenses one day a week. Jason starts work again soon. Most likely next week(unless some horrid winter storm hits). So those daycare costs are approaching quickly. I’m just glad we were able to find a good preschool/daycare that we can afford.
The fur-kids are doing great too. Stew is used to his litter box once again, which is extremely nice since he’s indoors. We found that pet bedding scented with lavender works the best as his litter. He eats a little of it, but it covers up the odor more than the mint kind that we were using. I bet he can’t wait to move back into his outdoor condo for summer again.
The pups are just as crazy as always. They whine and flip out every time anyone puts on shoes around here. I think they may be a little stir crazy too. We have a big back yard for them to run around in, but Luna loves people so much that she doesn’t like to be out there without any. Hank, on the other hand, would be content to sit outside all day protecting the house from the squirrels who taunt him from our black walnut tree. Doo is getting pretty old now… he just wants a comfy place to nap most of the time. We do what we can to make sure he’s comfortable.
We’ve been trying to go on walks every day (if the weather is nice) and take the dogs with us. Jayden whines a little but the dogs love it, and it’s good to get out of the house after working on my butt all day. I think Jayden can survive 30-45 minutes of fresh air. Hank goes into his usual “pee on everything” mode. Doo, of course, then has to pee on everything Hank pees on. And Luna…. well Luna is just so thrilled to be doing something with her humans that for the first 15 minutes of her walk or so she can’t stop squeaking and honking and hopping around. I swear, the neighbors probably think we torture her. She’s just very vocal when she’s excited. lol Heck, I would even take Stew on the walk if he would let me put his harness on him (he HATES that thing) and if I wasn’t afraid the dogs would try to eat him.
I really enjoy our family strolls. It’s going to be interesting to see if I can keep them going when Jason starts working late. I can handle 2 of the dogs by myself, but 3 may be a bit much. Hopefully, they continue to improve on each walk and they’re a piece of cake to walk by myself by the time summer rolls around (yeah, right).
Anyway, that’s about all we’ve been up to. Throw in some spring cleaning here and there, and the hint of our plan to have a yard sale when it warms up, and you’ve got our life. 🙂
Oh, there is another project I’m working on as well. But its top secret still… I don’t want to jinx myself before I get past the turning point. We Gemini’s have a short attention span and are easily distracted by shiny, new things. So I would hate to make a big deal about it now and then completely forget about it in a month. Although, I have no intention of letting that happen. This project has been in my head for about 10 years, just getting the details worked out now. 😀
Take care all!
